A movie/playlist I created after getting a little too deep into the Gizzverse theory. Let this stand as a monument to my folly - I don't think the Gizzverse is a cohesive, narrative thing, but what I did manage to do was create a very nice, flowing playlist that follows a narrative, using the clues, lyrical links and musical motifs presented by the band to take us on a vast, mystical journey throughout the Universe. If you're on this page, you've either come from my YouTube Videos, been sent here via myself dropping you a link, or stumbled upon this post after clicking my profile. Either way, welcome. The Odyssey project consists of 5 movies, entirely soundtracked by the incredible music of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Movie might be the wrong word to describe what is going on here, however, as the playlist came first, with the visual content added later - inspired by the stories, themes, vibes and voodoo put forward by the boys. Where the band have released a clip for a given song, I've used it, and they are scattered throughout the project like golden nuggets of hilarity and, more often than not, lo-fi psychedelic insanity. Where the work was up to me, I've tried very hard to match the mood and theme of the song in question, covering a diverse mix of visual content, all of which comes with a healthy sprinkling of my own brand of psychedelia. I couldn't hope to match Galea in terms of style, so I didn't bother to try - what you see here is very much my own take, my own interpretations of what I think is going down. So, you have two options to dig into this glorious mess. Here you can find the Odyssey Project Download Links (via Google Drive), a folder hosted online with the files ready to be grabbed and owned forever. This is the best option by far, provided you have the space and bandwidth to download the admittedly large files. The other option is to scroll below, and click the links one by one. This will open the movie for a streaming 'preview', essentially YouTube, which, whilst convenient, the quality suffers from compression and is unable to be loaded into a playlist etc, since it's coming straight from Google Drive. Also, it should be noted, since this started life as a "Gizzverse" investigation, there are no tracks from any releases prior to Mind Fuzz (my personal take on where the Gizzverse stuff started showing up). Sorry Float Along fans, maybe one day I'll get there, but for now you'll have to endure the above. There are only seven(7! )* total tracks left on the shelf from Mind Fuzz onward, however, so this is a hefty beast without delving into the early catalog. * Tracks left out; Dirt, Cold Cadaver, Time=Fate, Time=$$$, Most of What I Like, Infinite Rise, God Is In The Rhythm If you're entirely new to the band, all I can say is strap in; this is a hell of an introduction to them, and your head will be left spinning by the time the journey ends, in the best possible way. Ok so I've just finished typing this and it's very long, the first bit is about when my friend did it and what he described, the part with my experience starts at paragraph 3 and I'd really appreciate it if you guys read it and gave me some feedback, try to help me figure out what it was ya know. My flatmate E is open to a Ouija board done properly because she believes in how dangerous they are, the others give it a flatout no, with C even saying she'll leave the flat if we did one here. That was pretty much the only interesting thing that happened, no other doors had interesting things behind them. After all that, I didn't really believe M's experience. He had said to me, in private, before doing it "should I make some shit up, just to freak out E and C? " And than to see some character from a movie? I think he may of just been looking to see something that would creep people out, and that he could show a scary photo to after, in fact, he pulled up this photo on his phone straight after to show us what he 'saw'. It was my turn next, still not fully believing anything would happen. E kept on telling me that I had to be open to it, and if I was going in with my 'non-believer' attitude I would fail. It felt like forever, me laying there having my temples rubbed and people shouting a weird chant at me. I almost felt like bursting out with laughter at one point, but gained my composure and really tried to let the words carry me, focusing everything on them, and what was in front of my eyes. At some point though, I did start to see something, some blue flickers off in the distance, and it felt like a space had formed around me. Completely dark, but a space I could move around in. I put my arms down, thinking this might be it. E asked me what I could see, I told her I could only see darkness, she asked if there were any doors, I told her I could see none. She asked if I was in a room, I told her it was like a room, there was definitely a floor below my feet, I could definitely move on it, but in each direction was just dark expanse. She told me to walk in a direction, so I walked and after a while when I hadn't found anything she told me to start running. I tried my best to make myself move faster through the space, and than I saw them again, faint blue lights, like blue orbs almost, they moved around each other in an almost dance, leaving a glowing trail behind them that faded quickly. It wasn't like when you start seeing that rave-lightshow inside your eyelids, the movement was too 3 dimensional for that. This was actual thingsvin front of me, I said they were moving around in front of me, E told me to follow them so I did. And as I did I started to feel a cold wind on my cheek, which I told her. It was soft and repetitive, almost like someone was blowing on me, but it was cold. There was no window open in the room and M had closed the vent, thinking it may be the cold air from that which was causing it, but I kept on feeling it. E told me to look around, I did but there was still nothing, and when I took my eyes off them the blue lights disappeared. I wondered aimlessly again, and I could feel my arms starting to go a bit numb, my whole body was feeling very cold. After about 5 more minutes I saw them again, the blue lights, they were in the distance, circling around each other. Their little trails of light they left began overlapping, making the outline of a glowing circle, and in the circle appeared 2 small, beady yellow lights. They shone brightly, but were tiny compared to the blue lights, and even though this may sound weird, I felt like they were eyes. As soon as I saw it I could feel it was an entity, it was something in this black space with me. E told me to try and get closer, and I did try but it kept on moving further back. She told me to turn around and see if its still there when I looked back. When I did look back it was gone. I told her I would look for it, and started moving to where it had been, but instead of finding it, I saw something else. A glowing purply-blue light in the distance. It was in the shape of a door, but it's glowing form shivered and was kind of melting and than reforming itself over and over. E told me to go towards it and try to open it. I was able to reach it and when I was right in front of it it's harsh glowing was almost hurting my eyes. She told me I should try and open in. I did try to reach out to it, but it's form was still moving a lot, it didn't have a door handle, but when I pushed on it the centre of it kind of moved away, creating a door frame, which was constantly moving out of shape and back into shape. On the other side was another expanse, but this time not of darkness, but of greyness. E told me to step through, so I did. I informed her as soon as I stepped through I started to warm up, and I could feel my arms again, they were no longer numb. I looked around for a bit but there was nothing there really, a grey expanse, but there was a black horizon line, like you can see when you're on a boat in the middle of the ocean, except for it was grey above and below, and a black line through the middle. E told me to walk around a bit, so I did, and the glowing door still remained where it was, still shifting around, but I could see the black through it, I hadn't closed it or even tried to, E hadn't told me to. After a bit though, I saw the blue lights again, in the distance, and I could feel the cold air on my cheek again. I know this might sound like a stupid cliché, like I'm trying to make it up, but I swear I'm not, what happened next actually shook me to my core, and made me have a physical reaction. The blue lights started swirling into a face again, this time though it was closer, the eyes were there, bright yellow and still just tiny dots, the whole face was in darkness. And than it started coming towards me. I could feel my whole body tingling, my stomach dropping like when you get an adrenaline rush, I can feel it a bit even now, just remembering it. Whatever it was it was coming towards me, I told E what was happening as it happened. The thing got right in my face, it was like it was leaning down to put it's eyes right into mine, i cod see now it had pale faintly glowing skin, but it's eyes were sunken and black, and it just had two yellow dots, piercing my vision as they looked right into my eyes. I could feel the cold air on my face, more intense than before, and it was like nothing I'd ever seen in my life, no character, no monster. I told it to back off, E said afterwards she could here the panic in my voice. I tried to walk backwards and turn my head away but everytime I looked up it was right there in my face. I was told afterwards my head was physically throwing around on the pillow as I was doing this, and I was breathing rapidly. I remember E asking me how the the entity made me feel, and I remember hearing myself, she told me all I said was "it makes me feel scared". As I tossed on the pillow I heard another voice for the first time since I entered, I heard C say "you have to wake him up, now! ", I wanted to say no I'm fine but I couldn't bring myself to do it, and I opened my eyes with a start when E gently slapped my face with her hands. For a couple of seconds I was just staring up into the darkness of the room, I couldn't even move my body, which still had a tingling sensation all over it. She also had a first husband too who was abusive. She fell off the rails after the first relationship & basically became a sex addict. I’ve seen her currant husbands cruelty first hand. He has physically abused her in the past, however most of his abuse is done mentally. Her husband chad is a narcissist in the purest sense of the word. For example, over this year, he threatened to kick her out the house 3 times. This has an impact on not only her, but her son. She cannot support herself well enough to sustain a good living for her & her son. She has to work 3 jobs, one for the government and two passion jobs, photography and acting. Government work helps pay the bills the most while the other jobs are spontaneous. She was online seeking something that she was missing from her husband. Love. She opened up to me & I’ve never opened up my heart to anybody like her that much before. As far as things go, I was punching above my weight too. She is like a model. It got to about May-June time, we decided to meet. She told her husband she got an acting gig in Scotland. She came round & we spent 4 whole days with eachother. It felt like something from a fairytale. Honestly, I’ve never been happier my entire life. Since I was young it’s always been hard for me to ever feel truly happy or loved & this was the first time the sky was blue for me ya know. After that time with her, it was like a burst of life. I improved myself physically. Now I’m in the most physically healthy place I’ve ever been. My body feels new. I look like a completely different person, I was making progress with music & I was making great progress in my uni. I had a new purpose. To love & work hard for her until we can be together. She gave a man without purpose, a purpose. A couple of months after, Lindsay started saying some really strange stuff about herself & being really down. Chad was treating her like hell the entire time & she was saying “I don’t know if I could ever have the strength to fully leave him” “he’s everything I know”. “I’m broken” “I’m a terrible person etc” “people wouldn’t accept us” “I’m too old for you” & I told her everything a guy in love would tell her. She kept saying stuff like this. Lindsay’s coping mechanism when she’s over there with him, is to hang out with friends, distract & pursue her passions. i remember one day she put up this photo with this really good looking guy & I was quite intimidated ngl. I asked her who he was & she told me his name was John & he’s an acting buddy she met on set of the show they were working on at the time. I was fine with it, obviously, it makes me happy when she’s out with Friends, however a lot of the times she’s been out with guys, they always try to make moves on her or be creepy so I was worried he was the same. Over the next couple of months, September October time, I noticed John was trying to hang out with her a lot. He was inviting her out all the time, wanting to take her to hockey games, (she loves hockey), they were basically going on double dates with 2 other of their acting buddies, they were at events together taking her backstage to the CMA awards in Nashville & they were spending an awfully a lot of time together. Not only did they do these things, but he also kept trying to get them acting gigs that involved couples roles so it all set my alarm bells off. I let her know what he’s trying to do & she told me that “he’s just got nobody in the city as his friend, he’s new to the place. ” & I just didn’t believe it. I kept trying to warn her but I think it fell on deaf ears & blind eyes. They had a music video gig to act for, where she had to kiss him & I was very uncomfortable with it because I knew his intentions. She told me she felt sick all the way up in the car because she thought she was hurting me. They done it but I accepted it because it’s her passion & it’s a job. November was really the tipping point of a lot of things. I kept saying to her to spend less time with John but she just wasn’t having it. We were being less intimate with one another & she began to really worry about not being able to provide for her son at Christmas time. She put up an emotional block. One day in Mid December, she decided she wanted to break up with me. This sent me over the rails to be honest, everything felt like it had collapsed around me. The reason for this was because she doesn’t want to keep me waiting & wants me to have a good life. She also doesn’t ever know if she’ll ever leave chad. But it just didn’t make sense. I thought there was something else to it. Over the weeks following, we decided to be friends. I fell into a anxiety stricken mess, I hated looking in the mirror again, I stopped going to uni & a lot of grief happened in my family life over Christmas. On top of this, I lost a relationship with Lindsay & it was really hard for me. I said to her, promise me, at any point if you are intimate or start to feel anything for any other person, you have to tell me. She promised me, eventhough I was a broken mess mess. She said she would keep her heart open for me & that when she’s in a position financially to make her own decisions she’ll open up her heart again. Just before Christmas, I wanted to do something good to make me feel like less of a failure. I used the last of my money to give her a beautiful Christmas present & her son an amazing gift. I ordered her a necklace & got her son a designer hoodie. This was just to do something good, not to win her over. I just needed to feel like I was doing something positive amongst so much lost. She thanked me greatly. Over December time was John’s birthday & they went out for it with a bunch of friends. She told me they went to a rooftop bar in Nashville & she admitted she was being flirty. I asked her if anything had happened & she told me no. I repeatedly kept asking her & she kept saying no & saying things like “it’s none of your business” Everytime we would leave a call I would say I love you & would get a bye in response too. It got into the start of January where I kept having this horrible feeling in the back of my head that she’s done something with him. I tried to call her on her lunch break & she didn’t respond. John apparently met with her at lunch. She told me later that he also apparently bought her a bunch of stuff at Christmas. On this day at her work she asked me “do you want to see my new boots? ” I said yes out of curiosity & they were stunning. I asked her where she got them & she went “you know where”. That sent me spiralling into a crazy fit, so I got drunk to calm my anxiety. She called me when she was out of work & I called her beautiful when we were on cam & she went I know. I asked her who else calls you beautiful & she just gave me a look. That whole car ride was an argument. Me pressuring her to tell me if her & John had done anything together. I felt as if it was almost guaranteed at this point. Days of giving me the cold shoulder. She admitted she talks to him more & he’s probably the most important thing she has in her life rn. So later that night, I decided to do something stupid in my drunken craze. It was 3am my time, I created an alt Facebook account & I messaged John. I pretended to be another person & try to get him to react, go to her or bring her up in some way, almost for confirmation. The day after I realised I made a mistake. I tried to call her & explain what I done in the morning but chad was home so I couldn’t. Then later she responds with “So you were on Fb last night huh? ” Threatened to block me if I didn’t tell the truth so I told her (I was going to anyway). At this point I basically had confirmation. When I messaged John, I was pretending to be a movie director & I wrote a script about a love triangle & I wanted him to play the role of ‘the other guy’. He knew somebody was making a sort of threat to him & went straight to her about it. That’s when I knew. She made me delete all pics I had of her in our snap conversation, out of fear for her marriage & safety. She said I crossed a line & shouldn’t have messaged John. She told me that she’s scared of me & doesn’t know if she can trust me again. I told her later on call it was out of desperation for the truth. She was so distant & so cold towards me all this time after the breakup, it was eating me up inside. I was breaking down on the phone to her. She told me later that night that they had kissed on his birthday night. Confirming everything that I was worried about & tbh they’ve probably done more together. She didn’t tell me because I was apparently so fragile after the breakup she didn’t want to hurt me anymore. She still said she loves me but it’s just not our time. She has not messaged me in days & I don’t know what to do. Because now I feel tremendous guilt about literally all of it. I fell in love with this woman. I gave her all I could & she’s going to the exact same thing to more people. I’m left in a position now with literally nothing & im not sure what I should do. I can’t just forget about her, she was my purpose for keeping on fighting. & now she’s with John. Today on Saturday, her, John, tosha & Michael are all going on a drive to an audition together in Georgia. They’ve done something like that before too. She’s broken me & I still feel love for her but I’m afraid I’ll hurt her now. She’s ghosting me after all of that. It’s probably my own fault for getting into this in the first place, but it’s wrong to let this keep happening to other people. I’ve been debating the idea of telling her husband about me & all the other people she’s slept with behind her back but that means she could lose everything. I’m not gonna lie guys, I don’t ever see her getting out of her position unless he finds out. It’s wrong that she’s gonna keep doing this to people. I feel so much regret about this whole thing. I know I’m not the one cheating, but i was actively participating in being involved in a love affair for almost over a year. I’m just so lost on what to do with myself. I feel like I’ve got nothing anymore & she is away with him as we speak right now. It makes me want to destroy her but I don’t know if I could ever have the strength to do that. Maybe I should just let it be & she can continue being stuck in the same position in her life. Idk where to really end this. I’ve been typing for a while now. If you’ve read this, thank you. TLDR: Fell in love with her, ended up cheating on me too & hasn’t spoke to me since. Debating telling her husband about it.
