Mär 2015 In Prinzessin Kaguya gelingt es Ghibli ein klassisches Märchen sowohl traditionell, als auch modern wirken zu lassen und damit die Brücke zwischen seiner längst vergangenen Entstehungszeit und der heutigen Gesellschaft zu schlagen und das alles auch noch in eine wundervolle Präsentation zu verpacken. Eigentlich will ich das Thema der gewissen Modernität des Märchens gar nicht überstrapazieren, denn viel dieses Eindrucks kann man wohl auf die schlichte Zeitlosigkeit mancher Motive zurückführen. Trotzdem kann man sagen, dass diese Punkte in Prinzessin Kaguya sicher noch einmal bewusst herausgearbeitet bzw. unterstrichen wurden, so dass man die Geschichte auch als modernes – oder eben zeitloses – Plädoyer für das Verfolgen seines eigenen Traums, gegen die Zwänge einer starren, das menschliche Individuum ignorierenden Gesellschaft sehen kann, das unterfüttert ist mit einer Botschaft über den verderblichen Einfluss des Reichtums und den Wert der einfachen Dinge im Leben. Es sind Werte, an die man gut anknüpfen kann und welche auch angesichts des weiblichen Geschlechts der Heldin und der damit verbundenen stärkeren Einschränkung in vielen Gesellschaften nicht an Aktualität verloren haben. Der Film ist dabei in seiner Erzählung und damit auch der Anbringung seiner Botschaft geradlinig aber ausdrucksstark. Letzteres verdankt er auch seiner wirklich superben Präsentation, in der sich die auf klassischer japanischer Malerei basierende Optik und Animation mit einem gewohnt tollen Soundtrack von Joe Hisaishi verbinden. Für mich war es sicher auch diese Optik, die den Film zu einem Erlebnis gemacht hat und die an sich wirklich großformatig im Kino genossen werden sollte. Es fällt mir leicht hier die Höchstwertung zu geben, denn der Film stellt aus genannten Punkten eine schlicht rundum gelungene, in einigen Aspekten bezaubernde Märchenadaption dar, die auf technisch höchstem Niveau eine an sich werkgetreue und trotzdem nicht altbacken wirkende Geschichte erzählt. 05. Dez 2014 Der Film basiert auf eine alte Japanische Volksgeschichte (Taketori Monogatar) die mit den passenden Zeichenstil nach einer 7 Jährigen Produktion und knapp 50Millionen Kosten 2013 endlich fertiggestellt werden konnte. Die Geschichte erzählt von einen Mädchen Namens Takenoko, die von einen Bauern als kleines Etwas in einen Bambus gefunden wird. Er und seine Frau nehmen sich ihrer an und ziehen sie groß. Das sie ein außergewöhnliches Mädchen ist, erfahren sie schon nach kurzer Zeit, indem Takenoko in kurzer Zeit zu einen jungen Mädchen heranwächst. Dennoch geben ihre "Pflegeeltern" ihr viel Liebe mit auf dem Weg und Takenoko lernt die Natur und auch die Kinder um sie herum schätzen. Doch als ihr Vater eines Tages herausfindet das in den anderen Bambus Bäumen Gold zu "pflücken" gebe, beschließen diese ein besseres Leben als Adlige fortzusetzen, was Takenoko, die dadurch nun "Prinzessin Kaguya" genannt wird, in eine völlig andere Welt reißt. Sie lernt die Pflichten als Prinzessin und auch das ganze Drumherum kennen. Dennoch gibt sie die Liebe zu ihrer alten Heimat und ihren Freunden nie ganz auf und schützt sich so vor dem Druck und Lasten einer Prinzessin. Eines Tages aber wird klar, das sie aus einen bestimmten Grund auf der Erde weilt und ihr Schicksal dafür bestimmt ist, eines Tages in ihrer wahren Heimat zurückzukehren. Ob sie will oder nicht. Die Geschichte des Bambusmädchen gehört zu den seltenen Werken Ghiblis, die nicht vollständig auf Kinder geeignet sind. Der erste Drittel des Films glänzt zwar mit Witz und Nettigkeit zwischen den Menschen und dem Mädchen. Doch das dreht sich sobald das Gold gefunden wird und der Lebensabschnitt als Adel beginnt. Mit viel Gefühl und einer gewissen Ernsthaftigkeit wird das Since of Life der Kaguya weitererzählt bis zu dem Augenblick wo das Schicksal ihr vorbestimmt war. Die Stelle erreicht eine ähnliche Intensität wie eins "Die letzten Glühwürmchen" auch wenn es weniger um Tod und Leid geht, sondern Abschied, Liebe und auch eine Art "Bitterkeit. Denn das Schicksal lässt sich hier nicht "umkehren" oder irgendwie in eine Art Happy End drehen. Es ist den Beteiligten, besonders Kaguya klar, das dieser Augenblick irgendwann kommen wird. Doch die Art und Weise und eben der Moment dieser, geht sicherlich vielen Zuschauern nahe. Dies zeichnet somit wieder aus, was Ghibli hier erschaffen hat: Eine alte Geschichte so aufzubereiten, das die Botschaften darin verstanden werden und auch mit den Charakteren mitgefühlt werden kann ohne ins Klischee abzudriften. Der Zeichenstil ist diesmal völlig anders, entspricht aber sozusagen der Art und Weise der damaligen Zeit Bilder zu zeichnen um Geschichten damit zu festzuhalten. Man gewöhnt sich recht schnell an diesen ungewöhnlichen Stil, weil er butterweich gezeichnet wurde und ständig mit sehr vielen Details glänzt, wenn man auf die Hintergründe usw. achtet. Dazu kommen natürlich passend alte Volkslieder und Melodien zum Einsatz, die der Atmosphäre zugute kommen. Fazit: Ein trauriger, dennoch schöner Film, der dafür sorgt das auch solch eher unbekannten Geschichten auch mal außerhalb Japans bekannt werden, da dieser genug Botschaften und "Liebe" erhalten hat, das sich das Anschauen lohnen wird. Auch wenn dabei Taschentücher sicherlich Pflicht sind am Ende. 16. Feb 2015 >Die Legende der Prinzessin Kaguya<. Ach Gott, war das ein schöner, gefühlsvoller, leicht überlanger Trip mitten ins Herz, den uns >Takahata< da zum Abschluss präsentiert hat. Manche sagen inzwischen, es sei das Ende vom Ghibli gekommen, nun wo die Altmeister sich in den Ruhestand begeben. Dies ist durchaus Schade, aber bei Filmen von diesen verabschiedet sich das Studio dann immerhin mit Würde. 1. Animation Man erkennt erst am zweiten Blick, dass dies ein Ghibli-Film ist, da der ganze Stil an alte, japanische Gemälde angelehnt ist. Es wirkt scherenschnittartig und zerfließt meistens in Weiß. An sich wunderschön gezeichnet und für mich optisch sogar mit das Beste was ich bisher vom Studio gesehen habe. Doch ich kann auch verstehen, dass manche Westler nicht damit warm werden. Aber daneben punktet der Film wieder mit einer lebendigen Detailreichtum, der hier aber etwas zurückhaltender ist als bei anderen Werken des Studios, da wegen des gewählten Stils alles (insbesondere die Hintergründe) etwas starrer wirkt. 2. Musik Mit leichten asiatischen Anleihen, bedient sich der Soundtrack meistens sanften Klängen und untermalt die magische Atmosphäre ausgezeichnet. Und wenn die Emotionen hochkochen sollen, dann wird auch dies geschafft. 3. Inhalt Ich habe gelacht, mitgefiebert und geweint. War also ein wunderbares Erlebnis für mich. Es ist ein Märchen, dass mit viel Liebe – aber auch etwas ausschweifend – erzählt wird und mit Tragik und (gutem, kindgerechten) Humor aufwartet. Das Schicksal der namenstragenden Prinzessin ist wirklich voller Freude und Schatten. Es ist zwar eine alte Geschichte über Freiheit und gesellschaftlichen Zwängen/Normen und der Suche nach Glücksseligkeit, aber es wirkt niemals platt aufgedrückt, wird mit einem Augenzwinkern erzählt und bringt auch gerne mal Herzstränge zum erzittern. Die Charaktere sind liebeswürdig. Man wird immer wieder von den kreativen Einfällen überrascht. Die Atmosphäre bleibt ungebrochen fantastisch. Und das Ende ist sicher nicht das, was man erwartet. Der Film war schön. Mehr kann ich einfach schreiben. Egal was ich auch sage, es wird immer darauf hinauslaufen, dass er schön ist und ich es genossen habe ihn zu sehen. Als einziger, größerer Negativpunkt könnte ich nur die aufgegriffene Romantik gegen Ende erwähnen, die etwas hastig und selbst für mich übertrieben kitschig abgewickelt wurde. Doch die emotionalen letzten Minuten machten dies wieder wett. 4. Fazit Wenn man Fan von Ghibli ist, natürlich angucken. Wenn man Lust auf ein ruhiges Märchen hat, dann angucken. Wenn man einen wunderschönen, sehr speziellen Zeichenstil sehen will, dann angucken. Jun 2015 Ich ahnte schon, dass "Kaguya Himo no Monogatari" nicht mein Fall sein würde, weswegen ich den Film auch ewig vor mir her schob. Nicht zuletzt der Zeichenstil machte mich stutzig, aber auch die Geschichte vom Bambussammler traf bei mir nicht auf so großes Interesse, dass ich sie in Film-Form hätte sehen müssen. Klar kann man argumentieren, dass die Optik perfekt zur Thematik passte und klar kann man es als erfrischend empfinden, eben mal einen ganz anderen Stil präsentiert zu bekommen als man es gewohnt ist. Mir persönlich gefiel er allerdings schlicht nicht und die Charakterdesigns bzw. speziell die Darstellung der Mimik störte mich und hinderte mich daran, Emotionen ideal zu empfangen. Dass die Musik hingegen genau meinen Geschmack treffen würde, ahnte ich schon zuvor, denn Joe Hisaishi liefert nun mal am laufenden Band Meisterwerke ab. Was ich sicher nicht unter den Tisch kehren will ist, dass es auch für mich Momente in diesem Film gab, in denen einfach alles gepasst hat. In denen der Zeichenstil grandios genutzt wurde, um etwas zu schaffen, was ich so noch nicht gesehen habe und in denen ich wirklich fasziniert war. Allerdings waren diese für mich viel zu rar gesät. Bis hin zu den letzten, phänomenalen 20 Minuten, habe ich mich leider über 2 Stunden hinweg bis auf ein paar kleine Lichtblicke gelangweilt. Auch wenn man der Thematik sicher nicht die Relevanz absprechen kann, so ist sie doch zu gewöhnlich, um in dieser absolut einseitig beleuchteten Art und Weise, mein Interesse zu erlangen. Zu geradlinig verlief mir die Geschichte, zu blass und ohne Kanten, kamen mir die Figuren rüber. Nach fünf Sekunden wusste man schon, wer welche Rolle einnehmen würde und in dieser waren die Charaktere dann auch festgefahren. Lediglich die ganz späte Phase des Filmes schaffte es dann, mich etwas nachdenklich zu machen und mich zu berühren. Letztlich war "Kaguya Hime no Monogatari" einfach nichts für mich. Allein an der Optik habe ich mich hier sicher nicht aufgehängt, viel mehr hat mir die Form der Geschichte, eben gerade das Märchenhafte, nicht so zugesagt. Dadurch bewegt man sich über die meiste Dauer eben in eher engen Kreisen, appelliert mit einer Moral eher direkt als verschleiert und bietet wenig neuen Stoff, mit dem man sich noch geistig auseinandersetzten könnte. Ich fühlte mich eher zum stillen Zustimmen aufgefordert: Genau, Geld und das eigene Unterordnen machen nicht glücklich, sondern das freie Verfolgen eigener Wege. Alles in allem ist dieser Kommentar jedoch sowieso nur dazu gedacht, meine eigene Sichtweise zu schildern. Abraten werde ich von diesem Film sicher nicht, denn hier heißt es wie so oft: Reinschauen und sich selbst ein Bild machen! 17. Ein phänomenal schlechter Film, der genauso hässlich ausschaut, wie er langweilig ist. Die Geschichte war 1987 schon schlecht und ich kann mir vorstellen, dass die Version von 1942 auch nicht viel besser war. Von wegen zeitlos. Vollkommen veraltet ist Kaguya-hime. The famous Japanese movie production company 'Studio Ghibli' is known mostly for Hayao Miyazaki's film resume that ranges from 'Spirited Away' to 'The Wind Rises. Studio Ghibli continues to put out beautiful and important animated films that not only tell an amazing story, but it also touches on several political, religious, and societal issues that are relevant all over the world. And Miyazaki's films have conjured up a large global audience that has developed into a cult following that is bigger than ever today.
But this film 'The Tale of Princess Kaguya' is not a Miyazaki film. Instead, this is an Isao Takahata film and is not your typical Japanese animated film that has sleek CG animated effects or female characters that dress in next to nothing. 'Princess Kaguya' is a 137 minute film that is 100% hand drawn and is a story from the 10th century, which is called 'The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. Many people say that this is one of the first if not the first science fiction story ever thought up. And when I say science-fiction, I'm not insinuating aliens, space ships or far off planets with lasers. Instead, this wonderful story starts out with a middle aged man and his wife who live a quiet life in the mountains.
This man is a bamboo cutter, who uses bamboo for food, shelter, baskets, and clothing. While working in the bamboo field, he notices a strange glow from one of the bamboo trees. When he investigates, he notices a little seedling that is rapidly growing. In it is a tiny little person who is alive. He takes this small person back to his wife where it transforms into a baby girl, who grows very fast too. The bamboo cutter and his wife think that heaven sent her down to Earth to become the most beautiful princess there ever was. As she grows up fast, her parents collect gold and fine clothing from the magical bamboo tree, which he has a giant palace in the city built for her.
The bulk of this long movie shows this magical princess growing up and adjusting to her new wealthy and powerful life. Her father hires a teacher to instruct her on how to be a proper lady and princess, but the princess would rather laugh, dance, play in the fields, and sing than live a life of boredom in 10th century Japan. In addition to this being one of the first science-fiction stories, it also has a lot of feministic and women's rights qualities to it, which is always great to see.
Another big part of the story has five of the wealthiest and powerful men in Japan vying for her love and marriage, to which she has never met any of them. She sends each of them on impossible tasks to prove their love for her, but it's really a ploy to see if they truly care about her or if they just want her as a piece of property. One of the overall story arcs is the love between the princess and a young boy she was friends with when they were little, where their paths cross rarely throughout the course of this movie, but their love is still binding them together, even they are so far away.
This PG family friendly film might be too slow for most, where as anime buffs might take a stronger liking to it, but as the ending draws closer, the more bizarre the film gets, taking you out of the whole point of the story. The best parts are towards the beginning of the film, watching the princess grow up. It has such a wonderful and carefree charm about it that should make you smile. The animation is beautiful and simple and wonderfully colored. It's a real treat to see something illustrated fully by hand without the use of computers these days. The 137 minute run time is a bit long and could have played out better as a mini series, as this film is fairly episodic, but none-the-less, it's an excellent piece of animation and a great story. I just think it got away from itself from time to time and took too long to tell.

The movie, which is available in both the original Japanese (with English subtitles) and in dubbed English, should appeal to mature elementary schoolers who are already fans of movies like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. There are a couple of scenes of violence. including the death or disappearance of a couple of characters. as well as a moment when a woman's bare breast is shown because she's nursing. Families who enjoy fantasies and folk tales should consider seeing this unique film together; it has serious themes and moments of heartbreak, but it also offers strong messages about what children need to thrive (love, encouragement, and the freedom to be themselves) and how striving for social status will ultimately leave you dissatisfied. THE TALE OF PRINCESS KAGUYA retells an ancient Japanese folk tale about an elderly bamboo cutter (voiced by James Caan in the English dubbed version) who finds a tiny, magical princess sprouting from a shining bamboo stalk. Shocked by the discovery, he runs home with the tiny princess in his hand. There, the old man and his wife ( Mary Steenburgen) watch as the she transforms into a baby. The baby grows faster than other kids and is soon a delightful, curious girl out enjoying the forest with the local boys. One day, the bamboo cutter finds that the bamboo is shining again, this time with treasure. With his newfound fortune, the bamboo cutter moves to the city to give his princess a proper "young lady's" education, complete with an uptight royal governess. Despondent about moving away from her beloved country home, Kaguya's ( Chole Grace Moretz) only joy is an outdoor garden she tends for herself. When she comes of age, tales of her beauty reach the highest levels of Japanese society, and five titled men vie for her hand in marriage. But Kaguya still misses her first crush, Sutemaru (Darren Criss) from her childhood home. Is it any good? Director Isao Takahata's (Studio Ghibli co-founder) poignant hand-drawn adventure is gorgeously animated. Kaguyahime No Monogatari Kaguyahime No Monogatari is one of the greatest movies of 2013. It is my favorite animation movie because parts felt very similar to my life experience. I have favorites but best movie means for me having both a certain style, symbolizes the point of a movie to tell a story via motion pictures of a being's existential turning point, it engrosses you in imagery and its overall effect is that either you leave changed, inspired, taught you something or left some impact on you. I'm the biggest fan in the world of movies like this Every single performance is incredible. Not to mention that it has the best music in a movie. It's taken me multiple rewatches and a lot of hours on the wiki to understand everything. Sure there are classic movies which everyone like, and they are great.
